R.I.F.E.L. Study on cost development in the event industry
Dear customers, friends and partners of Blue Wheels Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH,
An eventful second quarter with many exciting projects is behind us. We were finally able to do what we are all passionate about the most: plan trade fairs and events, equip them with the finest technology and help our customers achieve their communication goals.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your cooperation and loyalty after a 2-year break due to corona. This crisis isn't over yet, but we're finally seeing the famous light at the end of the tunnel again. In the midst of our euphoria about the regained project work, there is now the latest study by the RIFEL Institute on cost development in the event industry.

Of course, we are all feeling the consequences of current developments, both at the (geo) political level and in economic development. Many goods and services have become significantly more expensive compared to the pre-corona period and since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine; we are seeing a severe shortage of skilled workers throughout the economy and especially in the event industry and supply chains are still disrupted or completely interrupted.
How can we deal with all these challenges in order to provide you and your customers with reliable and competent support in implementing your projects as usual? We asked customers, partners and employees about this — and here are 5 approaches that can help us all to address the lack of resources & skilled workers that are looming for autumn and further cost increases:

Gerald Pott
Managing Director Grand Hall Zollverein GmbH
“As early as the initial concept phase of a new project, we inform our service providers and partners in order to get all project participants on board as early as possible. This enables caterers, technology service providers and non-food caterers, for example, to allocate personnel resources at an early stage — a critical success factor in each of our projects, especially in view of the very severe shortage of skilled workers at the moment. ”

Jürgen Künkel
Managing Partner Vantage Global Event Production GmbH
“Even in the initial planning phase, we define very precisely the required scope of services that we must purchase from external service providers — this allows us to provide our customers with initial estimates of the expected costs at the early stage of a project — this provides planning security and quickly provides our customers with a well-founded basis for decision-making. ”

Martin Vogtmeier
Managing Director Clou GmbH
“Open communication about the sizes and limits of the customer budget helps a lot to avoid unnecessary supply loops and time-consuming “approaching” the available budget. Due to the current density of projects, the entire project team can work more effectively — and we can easily achieve efficient results faster. ”

Yannick Grondin
Dispatcher at Blue Wheels Veranstaltungstechnik GmbH
“As a dispatcher, it is essential for me that we communicate with customers and project stakeholders as early as possible with specific schedules. In this way, we can buy and allocate the already scarce resources on the market in good time. The earlier we know and can plan requirements, the greater the potential savings potential. ”

Tom Koperek
Managing Partner LK Group
“I am currently activating my entire network beyond our own project teams so that we can support each other in the event of problems in procuring resources and in the event of a short-term failure of service providers and partners, true to the motto: “We are only strong together! ”
Let us all work together to meet the challenges we face efficiently and effectively — as Peter Ferdinand Drucker said:
“It is better to do the right job than just do a job correctly. ”
With this in mind, we wish all customers, friends and partners of Blue Wheels a relaxing holiday and vacation season and hope to be able to welcome you all back “to production” soon and above all healthy.
With best regards from the Ruhr Metropolis
